Big milestone achieved! The tracheostomy is out now and Aaron is now breathing on his own. He is still getting some support during the night but that is just a matter of time until he will be fully sufficient himself.
The next step is to focus on Aaron's mobility. To achieve that he will transfer to the National Spinal Recovery Centre. We are waiting for a free bed in Stoke Mandeville where Aaron will continue his recovery journey.
Aaron is motivated and focused on consistent improvement, he continues with his intensive physio. His physio team Sasha, Lorna, Ben, Alice, and Elly set milestones for Aaron to hit daily. That includes movement with and without electro stimulator in both his arms and legs, straightening his triceps and biceps exercises, to building strength in his forearms and wrists. The connection is now getting stronger daily.
We celebrated Aaron's birthday with our boys, friends, and team that looks after Aaron here in Royal Papworth who made a big effort to make his day special. He also had a 'customized' birthday cake, no candles though! Thank you, Barbara, Lucy, Shannon, and the team!
Thank you to all who made an effort and continued to come and visit Aaron.
